First Ever Steemit MeetUp In Ghana

in #promo-steem7 years ago (edited)

Community is really important on steemit. Regardless of your writing skill level, you must certainly belong to a community. I am a Ghanaian and every Ghanaian is an automatic member of the Ghanaian community. Some few months ago, I joined the steemit. There was no Ghanaian community and so I took it upon my self to create one.

How can one create a community without members? Impossible? Well, let see how I did it.

I became an ambassador by default. I started talking to every soul I could glimpse upon about how wonderful steemit was. Definitely the beginning was as frustrating as you'd expect. Some people decided it was worth a shot but others said to hell with it and went their way.I also had help from some of the people i introduced to the community. @richforever, @mcsamm @kwakumax and many others all contributed to this success.
Long story short, it is over six months now and guess what? The Ghanaian community has grown over 170 people. Indeed it's a great milestone worth celebrating but it also means there is still room for much improvement and growth. If it took one to grow 170 you can guess how much work 170 can do.

With more numbers means more need for capacity building. As a community there is the need to streamline our collective growth with the individual aspirations. How do we do this when we have not had an official meeting so far? Well, all is about to change with the #Steemit_GhanaMeetup 2018 event. We as a community shall meet up and reorganise ourselves well for the 2018 journey.

With this premise please allow me to introduce you to the Steemit_GhanaMeetup 2018 which is scheduled to take place on the 6th of January 2018 at Sunyani, BA.

Hard work they say, really pays! I remember when I first heard about this from @kshemen I was so sceptical that I didn't pay much attention. But thank to his patience and persistence I am here today! I am a part of that 170 and I am going to do the best I can to contribute positively to this the Ghanaian community as well as the general steemit environment! Thank you @tj4real for making this happen!
