The Peles Castle is undoubtedly one of the most remarkable sights in Romania, boasting exceptional architecture and rich heritage. This castle can be found near Sinaia in Prahova District, located in the majestic Carpathian Mountains. This fantastic landmark was built by King Carol I of Romania between 1839 and 1914 and is meant to be a king's summer retreat. The costs for this extraordinary effort are enormous, as construction projects require about $ 120 million in today's currency. Today, Peles Castle is a very important museum that houses a vast collection of weapons, armor and art pieces. Some of the most famous rooms in the palace are called The Honor Hall, The Imperial Suite,

Arsenal, The Playhouse and the Florentine Room, each holding their unique treasure. Arsenal, for example, featured 1,600 examples of armor and weapons, including the 14th-century German 14th-century sword and a full fleet of Maximilian for riders and horses. The Florentine rooms have a more artful approach, boasting elements of the Italian Renaissance like Grand Marble Fireplace by Paunazio and large solid bronze doors made in Rome. One of the most interesting places when you visit Romania. When you visit Romania, at Peles Castle you will be greeted upon entrance with a beautiful statue of King Carol I made by Raffaello Romanelli. There are also many other sculptures scattered in the surrounding terrace gardens, mostly also associated with Romanelli.

The castle can be explored only through guided tours. There are 3 tours available, the first being limited to the ground floor only, while the latter offers a complete exploration of the landmark. There is an entrance fee as well as an additional fee for those who want to bring their camera. Peles castle can be visited throughout the year except for November when closed for maintenance.

This magnificent structure is generally regarded as the home of the famous Dracula character brought by Bram Stoker, but its history is far more comprehensive than it is. In fact, the first mention of Bran Castle dates back to 1377, when Louis I of Hungary allowed Saxon Brasov to build their own stone. In 1920, Bran Castle was the official residence of the kingdom and eventually became the favorite resting place of Queen Marie.

Today, Bran Castle operates as a museum that houses a large collection of art and furnishings that used to belong to Queen Marie. Visitors can choose to explore the hall itself or under the guidance of a professional.

3. Corvin Castle

The beautiful castle of Corvin can be found in Hunedoara, in the Transylvania region of Romania. This Gothic-Renaissance masterpiece was commissioned by John Hunyadi in 1446, and it was intended to replace the existing fixed built by Charles I of Hungary on the same site. The original Corvin castle was built in Gothic style but did feature some Renaissance design elements as well. The building was used as John Hunyadi's house but was also used extensively for defensive purposes, thereby gradually receiving many additional towers and fortifications.

Some of the towers were meant to be used as prisons, especially the Desert Tower and the Capistrano Tower, while the defense towers such as the Buzdugan Tower featured large openings that would accommodate the prevailing weapons. Significant improvements were made in the 17th century, including the addition of a new Great Palace and the construction of 2 towers named Artillery Tower and the White Tower. Unfortunately, the building was destroyed after years of neglect and even burned at some point, causing severe damage. The current version of Corvin Castle is actually the result of a successful restoration. Because of its incredible history and its long life, this magnificent building is still shrouded in mystery and legend to this day. One of the most popular places to visit in Romania.
