Social Media Cross-Promoting SMART Goal
At the end of my last post about setting goals, I stated that I would create a SMART goal for beginning to cross-promote my content to another social media platform. This will be delayed to ensure an adequate amount of time passes for developing my voice as a brand and finding the optimized format for the blog to demonstrate the way small changes in daily actions and patterns of thinking translate into meaningful progress toward both short term and long term goals. I also found a way to sneak in motivation for pursuing another personal interest of mine:
I will post the TIMW series on a wordpress blog space in order with a post weekly, once I have released 30 posts that feature at least one original image for cross-promotion on an associated Instagram account.
Specific: I outlined what content (all), the location (wordpress/instagram), the triggering event (40 original images) so I have clear tools to measure my progress and the conditions that I will use to get there
Measurable: I spoke about frequency of posts (weekly) and a value that would trigger my action (40 original images). The numbers don’t lie, I will have an easy to follow day for followers to expect new content.
Achievable: I have great resources via this community as well as print resources about photography to develop my skills to create quality original images that illustrate the benefits to dedicating time to collecting information from reliable sources to make the most of your work toward any ambition (with your own flavor added, of course!) 40 images is not a large number in the grand vision of the plans for the scale of this project. I will be creating posts discussing my studies and examples from a beginner’s viewpoint so please click “follow” to make sure that you can study along as a fellow newcomer and our communities own veteran photographers opinions will be welcomed and shared in subsequent posts on the topic
Realistic: Being a part of this community at such an early stage and seeing the demonstrated value of all of the contributions so far and to imagining what is to come, I know I am capable of committing to this project and a portion of my path to happiness, learning photography.
Timeline: I chose weekly at this time to ensure that while I am getting started and my content is not as consistent, I will not end up catching up to my current posts too quickly when reposting on wordpress. That way I can continue to reflect of old posts while I am posting new content to the platform that reflects the community at that time.
On the Instagram account, I will interact with influential accounts within the various communities that this project ends up exploring, guided by your input. These influencers can be resources for answering this communities questions as a professional on a given topic and hopefully the interaction will spark interest for the creator to become part of the Steemit community and begin to advertise for the platform to their followers, to help spread the platform to even more interested parties.
As those of us that observe reward trends on other Steemit posts know, the typical Instagram format of single image posts with little commentary cannot compete with the more developed posts that become their own chapter within a novel, instead of a sentence in a paragraph. However, I have observed respectful veteran recommendations acknowledged by new users, embracing the format for as they see the benefit toward developing quality content that will beg for deeper discussion and understanding between those interacting with your content on steemit (and steepshot is always an option!) I am most familiar with this platform and therefore determined it would be the best place for me to complete my own sharing of content.
Have you shared information about the platform or links to content on other social media platforms? What responses have you received?
