Steem Fantasy Premier League - Gameweek 8 Review

in #premierleague5 years ago

Well the Premier League looks done and dusted, doesn't it? Last year Man City pulled back a 7 point deficit but this year, without Kompany, and the injured Stones and Laporte, they look suspect at the back. Liverpool on the other hand have an almost fully fit squad - I think the 30 year wait could be over. What else happened in week 8?

Key Games

One of a selection of surprise results in game week 8 was Brighton's comprehensive home win against Tottenham, who looked to be coming into form prior to this result. Two goals from Aaron Connolly earned him a star man rating and he's likely to start again after being predominantly used as a substitute in the early part of the season.

Everton lost again, this time away at local rivals Burnley. Seamus Coleman, who had looked one of Everton's brigher sparks this year recieved a red card. Worrying times for The Toffees and their supporters.

Eight wins to start the season, and Liverpool are within touching distance of the record for most consecutive Premier League game wins. Leicester fought hard but a late Penalty ensured the run continues, and The Reds now make the short trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on Sunday - who would bet against them making it nine wins from nine?

Another surprise result last weekend was Aston Villa's thrashing of Norwich at Carrow Road. The Canaries had recently beaten the champions at home and to concede 5 goals against Villa clearly shows their frailties at the back.

Arsenal continued their solid home form with a one nil win against Bournemouth - Sweeper David Luiz scoring his first goal since the switch from Chelsea. The Gunners move up to third in the Premier League whilst the international break kicks in.

Perhaps the biggest shock of the weekend arrived at the home of the champions as Manchester City lost to Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Blues were without key players in midfield and defense and this is the second time this season they have been caught out by teams willing to attack.

Chelsea under new manager and ex player, Frank Lampard have really started to perform. Four different goalscorers in their away victory at Southampton bodes really well - who needs big name transfers anyway?

Manchester Uniteds worse start to a season in Premier League history was confirmed in their away defeat to Newcastle last weekend. The Reds look weak throughout the team and Ole Solsjaer's job looks less safe every week. A debut goal Matthew Longstaff earned a post-match hug from Newcastle boss and ex Man U player Steve Bruce.

Steem Fantasy Premier League Standings - Week 8

The top of the table changes again as 'sehmsalabim', managed by Edvin Sehm collected 50 points this game week - 14 more than the average. Not the best score for the new leaders, or many of the chasing pack this week - Mane, Abraham, and Mount delivering the majority of the points.

Dream Team - Week 8

This weeks Dream Team collected 100 points, 11 points less than the previous game week, and 41 fewer than the week before. The key players in the Dream Team were the triple captained Mane, and David Luiz who scored and kept a clean sheet. Three Chelsea selections also scored well for the team.

Mahrez was the most transferred in player this week, and like previous weeks, the most popular transfer didn't perform. It was the same story for player most captained - Sterling. Both these players on the receiving end of City's 2 nil defeat courtesy of Wolves.

The player who picked up the most points this week was a defender - Traore for Wolves. Well done if you selected him!

Back in a weeks time, selections close on Saturday 19th October at 10:30 am UTC.

The Premier League is the best league in the world, without a doubt.

Liverpool has 24 points and is ranked No. 1, while Manchester City has only achieved 16 points in 8 games played.

Are the Pep Guardiola raising their heads?

So tough to see City and Liverpool at the top 🙈

And international breaks 👎🏽

Injury is a major problem recently but i hope my team will be back strong, having 448 points is nit really a bad one for the race.

Really happy with the results so far. Back on the top 10!

Didn't expect Newcastle to beat United. I knew things were bad for the red devils, but not that bad.
And don't get me started with Spurs. 10 goals conceded in 2 matches.

For the third week in a row my second choice keeper has got a higher score than my starter one. Maybe I should give Ryan a chance lol
