A Single Seed: Nonrenewable Resources

As the quarantine continues, we find ourselves with more time than ever on our hands. How you spend that time is your decision, and I'm certainly not here to say one way is better than another. But I think it's worth remembering that spending time on anything takes energy, even if it's just sitting watching TV. And when we spend time and energy, we're simultaneously using both of our most valuable resources.

As I've said in previous posts, right now our ways of making money are undoubtedly important. But for those who are lucky enough to have a stable job despite the unstableness of the economy, your focus should be on harvesting whatever brings you joy with the time and energy you have to spend. Every decision we make in our lives gives our energy to one thing while eliminating any other option for the time being. Especially when we're given an abundance of time like we have now, there is no better opportunity to start being mindful about the choices we make and the energy we give to situations and people throughout the day.

Becoming aware of how you spend your days is something that will hopefully carry over long after the world is back to normal. As they say, the days seem long, but the years seem short. If we can practice being mindful in how we spend our days, in the energy we give (or don't give) to certain things, our years will become much fuller as well; full with life, memories, and love.

In these coming weeks, see if you can become a bit more aware of what you're delegating your time and focus to. These are personal choices, but I think when you strip down the actions to the root cause, your heart will know if you're making the right decision with your most precious resources. Remember, our days become our memories.

"A Single Seed" is my attempt to get out one idea every day that I've learned or accumulated over the years, with the hope that it may stick in someone else's memory bank as well. The idea may be related to fitness, business, life, or philosophy, but I think you'll find that many can change domains if you wish them to. With each seed planted, a new life awaits.
