My visit to Portugal
A little more about my Portuguese heritage...

My mother was born in Sao Jacinto, Aveiro, Portugal. A very small european town on the coast of Portugal.

Where I stay when I am in Portugal
My family's house in Portugal is on the main street along the river. It is so peaceful and I always enjoy having a tea and fresh bread from the bakery next door over looking the river with all the boats in the water.portugal3.jpg

I absolutely love the european architecture, it is so different from all the buildings in Canada.

The food
The culture in Portugal really emphasizes food. The Portuguese have so many amazing classics such as francesina.

Some of my favourite places to visit in Portugal:
The beaches in my area. The Sao Jacinto beach is only a five minute walk from the house. However, there are a lot of beautiful beaches within a half hour drive.

The beach is even beautiful in November!

Here I am in the University of Coimbra Campus. This school has so much history and the architecture is just stunning!

FATIMA
This church is so well know! Every May people travel from all over the world to celebrate the Fatima Celebration here.

This church I went to was made entirely out of bones. Wish I had more and better pictures but the memories will always last.

"Down South"
This is "down south" in Portugal, where all the tourists go because the weather is always beautiful and the beaches are picture perfect.

Last, but certainly not the least: Lisbon. The Capitol of Portugal
This is an old picture of my mother, brother and I in downtown Lisbon at the "Padrao dos Descobrimentos". There is so much to do in Lisbon, but this should be on the list if you plan to visit!
