Why I Hate the Enforcers of Big Government

in #politics7 years ago (edited)

The other day my wife went to leave the house, and she asked where my pistols were. She was wanting to know if one was in the vehicle or not. I explained there was not, but that I would prefer there was in case she, or heaven forbid our daughter, were to be attacked. She explained she would take her chances with an attacker, but that she just did not want to have one in case she were ever to be pulled over. Curious, I asked if she were more afraid of police than an attacker. Yes, was her simple reply.

Keep in mind, that my wife has not done hardly anything to break the law in her life, ever. She is the exception to the “average American commits 3 felonies per day” rule (though I’m sure I help average us out, heh).

I did not title this, “Why I hate the police”, because the actual role of police is a good one. It is one that helps protect the victim in an actual crime. Unfortunately, we do not really have police (peace officer) today. All we have are enforcers of the big government.

This fear, is what they want. When you have to be fearful of carrying a weapon in your vehicle (2nd amendment) and fear if you were to get pulled over…that is exactly what the government wants. The politicians pass the laws, the court and politicians decide the punishments, and the police enforce with power.

Everyone, however, is always giving the police a pass. You will hear statements like, “They are only doing their job.” But why do they get a pass for picking a poor job? You probably have never heard, when referring to a stripper, “They are only doing their job.” Or when a bank or someone trying to make extra money at someone else’s expense, “They are only doing their job.” Or even further, a paid assassin, “They are only doing their job.” Why? Because if your job is requiring you to do something immoral or unethical, we expect those people to quit and resign from their jobs. For some reason, the government enforcers get a pass. They do not have to quit their job and line of duty that is immoral and unethical.

In days past, they were referred to as the “strong arm of the law” which implies the law is the body. Have you ever seen someone suggest killing the body but keeping the arm alive? Sure, we can work to make legislative changes, but those take years. Why should innocent people be harmed while we wait for that process? Rather, the most immediate impact is to make the “strong arm of the law” the weak arm.

What needs to happen is police nullification of the law. They’re the enforcers; they can stop enforcing.

Do we need people choked to death for trying to sell cigarettes? Do we need a veteran’s home broken into at midnight only for the home owner to be shot and killed for trying to protect themselves? Does grandpa in the nursing home need to be tasered if he does not want to go to the doctor? Absolutely not. If police keep enforcing horrible laws, they’ll keep passing horrible laws. Police are the last line of defense between an awful law and a normal citizen.

They need to return to focusing on trespassing, theft (the IRS office would be a good place to start), and actual crimes where another’s liberty is actually infringed.

Eric Garner harmed absolutely no one by selling cigarettes on a street corner.

Philando Castile was harming no one when driving down the road and being pulled over because he had a “wide nose.”

Dylan Noble did not harm anyone before he was shot and killed.

But that’s exactly why these stories go huge in the media. The government wants you to realize that guilty or not, they’ll kill you and think nothing of it. Nothing will happen to them, and you are insignificant in their eyes. In fact, it only helps reinforce their propaganda to those around you that they’re in charge and even if innocent, you can have your life taken from you.

The irony here is the Preamble to the Constitution says that life is a right. The government was setup to protect your rights or assist in avenging when your rights are violated. Rather now, the government has grown such that the government believes they have the authority to violate your rights at their own pleasure.

Because of this, the enforcers need to go. I hate enforcers of big government.
