Diaspora Desk : AKISAN GETS NEW FEMALE PRESIDENT

Ms Margret Itauma has been elected, the new international president of the Akwa Ibom State Association of Nigeria USA Inc, AKISAN.
The medical professional with dual citizenship was unanimously voted in on Friday during the AKISAN international Convention, 2018 which held from 10th - 12th August, 2018.
In her support from the home front was the Special Assistant to His Excellency, the Governor of AKwa Ibom State on Diaspora Matters, Obong Joe Etukudo who led other dignitaries from Nigeria to attend the epoch making occasion.
Speaking immediately after her victory, Ms. Itauma said she was set to lead the revered group to new heights promising more togetherness within her members and good synegy with international bodies to further the agendas of the people.
" I am happy for the support you have shown me today, I am ready to lead us, of course with your support, to greater heights. Cohesiveness is important within our members and we will work with other organizations for the well-being of our members"
The Eket born leader also pledged to uphold the regulations while pursuing the objectives of the respected group.
In his speech the SA to Akwa Ibom State Governor on Diaspora Matters congratulated the newly sworn in executives of the group as he restated the commitment of the administration of Gov. Udom G. Emmanuel to the course of AKISAN.
" May I unbehalf of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, congratulate the international president of this esteemed group and the whole exco of AKISAN. May I restate the commitment of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom G. Emmanuel to the Diaspora Matters vis-a-vis the cause of AKISAN. The Government of Akwa Ibom State is open to work within enshrined policies for the progress and development of the group as a whole and the members"
Other items of the night included the crowning of Miss Idara Ekpoh who emerged as Miss Akwa Ibom USA.
