Netanjahu: Italy and Germany shall take African refugees from Israel
Incredible move of the Israeli prime minister Netanjahu: For years Israel is debating about what to do with 40.000 African refugees who have illegally entered the country. Now Mr Netanjahu and some strange people of the UN have actually found a solution: One half of them shall be allowed to stay in Israel, the other half shall go to Italy and Germany.
The flaw in the idea: Nobody has yet asked Germany or Italy if they actually agree in taking the additional migrants from Africa despite the fact that both countries are already in big trouble due to illegal immigration from Africa and the Middle East. Both governments have reacted with irritation stating that they were not involved. One day after the news Mr. Netanjahu already stepped back from the agreement. There was too much criticism in the Israeli public that thousands of illegal refugees would get a right to stay. Meanwhile the UN made clear that bringing the refugees to Germany or Italy was just an idea and is not yet settled.
As a German I'm kind of upset about this procedure. We're not the poorhouse of the world where every country can bring its problematic people too. Its time to pluck up the courage to say "No" - even to Israel.
