The greatest of africans - Thomas Sankara
On 15 October 1987, Thomas Sankara, the greatest of Africans, was assassinated in Burkina Faso. The US and French governments were behind the coup that took place.
In just four years in power (he was 37 at the time of his death), Sankara had managed to bring about sweeping economic, social and cultural transformation.
"Our revolution draws on all human experience, starting from the very first breath of humanity. We want to follow all the revolutions of the world, all the liberation struggles of the peoples of the Third World," Toma Sankara said, "The Great October Revolution changed the world, shook the foundations of capitalism, made possible the realisation of the dream of justice.
Sankara reduced his salary to $450. His possessions consisted of a private car, a bicycle, three guitars and a refrigerator with a broken freezer.
He moved ministers from Mercedes to the cheapest cars in the country. Vaccinated 2.5 million children against meningitis, yellow fever and measles. Launched a nationwide campaign to combat illiteracy. In four years, the literacy rate rose from 13 per cent in 1983 to 73 per cent in 1987. Transferred land of landlords to peasants. Promoted women to leadership positions, incentivised them to work and study, introduced maternity leave. Planted more than 10 million trees to protect the Sahel from desertification and weathering. Built roads and railways. Rejected the needle of humanitarian aid, saying that "he who feeds you controls you".
Called African peoples to a common struggle against foreign debt, saying that the poor and exploited do not have to pay the rich and exploiters.
He was also a poet and wrote music.
Of course, he should have been killed in our democratic, humanist, pacifist, liberal-bourgeois world.
I will not ask the traditional question about why one of the greatest and most honest people of the century considered October 1917 to be a key and pivotal event in world history, while we still talk about the mythical "money of Parvus".
We hardly know about this legend, the "African Che Guevara" and "the most honest president in the world".Among other things for the banal reason that when he was killed, we started "perestroika" and the campaign of the blessed to the West for a big carrot and other miracles.
The flag of his country was red-green, with a golden star.
He lived for 37 years.Like Pushkin and Mayakovsky.
Who can guess what was done first after his assassination? That's right, they suspended the process of nationalisation of land and mineral resources, because this nationalisation so annoyed the IMF and the World Bank.
