Congress

in #politics7 years ago

Well over 300 of the congressmen you elected to support and defend the Constitution yesterday voted yes on the NDAA. The NDAA has a clause that states that the President alone can indefinitely detain American citizens without charges or trial if the President simply SUSPECTS them of being a terrorist. Clearly a Constitutional violation. Some say you have a duty to vote...I say that you have a duty to vote AGAINST those who would violate their oath of office. You want term limits, you term limit them this next election.

A congressman has only 2 questions on his mind

  1. Am I bringing home the bacon?
  2. Are my donors happy?

Everything else is irrelevant until we eliminate the preverse incentives of politics.

Or until American voters decide to not be so goddamned lazy and do more time worrying about the Constitution than the flag. Funny how those Republicans don't care about any Amendment but the 2nd. They don't realize though....When you let them(politicians in DC) get away with chipping away at one right, you tell them that it's ok and that no matter what they do as far as the Constitution goes they'll still get your vote. For some reason though voters are lazy and refuse to see the big picture.

From my experience, most people concern themselves with the low hanging fruit of political gossip and identity politics leaving the nitty gritty of constitutional rights, foreign policy, economic and monetary policy up to the establishment.
