German Elections 2017!

in #politics7 years ago (edited)

I don't have very high hopes for Angela Merkel getting beaten in the German elections because of what happened in France but it may well be worth keeping an eye on regardless as we all know what happens these days when we jump to conclusions. There seem to be a couple of new outsider parties like the AFD which is pretty right wing and then a lesser known left leaning party that's been talked about by the media.

Aside from the British and the Polish though, there isn't much appetite for any real change in politics and people aren't willing to take the risk to try something new and with the media smearing anybody that disagrees with the establishment as 'far right' it will be very difficult for other parties to try and get voters to go for them rather than the usual candidates.

Low and behold!

Far right set to enter Parliament for first time in decades

Really independent? Fuck off.

The telegraph really has more reasonable coverage at this point so I'd recommend just checking them out, by the way guys, there is another event going on out in the world today. That's the Milo free speech week, it will be happening later on though and the German election results will be coming in at 17:00 BST.

Bloomberg have a proper chart up it seems now.

As usual with elections, you can also google search the results and they are up on a window at the top with live updates.

EDIT: Looks like Merkel is set to win :( Oh well that was fast.

Update 9:56pm: Well It looks like I was jumping to conclusions and it is not as clear cut as I thought it would be. While Merkel did win she didn't win by as much as people thought, the vote has spread out a hell of a lot more and the AFD gained quite a bit.

Sort:

Politics are a waste of time. The AFD got lesbian party members and the left are suicidal. It's a choice between a turd sandwich and a rotten piece of meat.

The world belongs to the bankers, if you want to change it you must get rid of the big globalist players like SOros.

But even then, you will just waste your time. Even if you have the government of your dreams, they can not take care of millions and you will not feel many effects of that change.

Disagree entirely, the fact that Hillary Clinton and Obama got removed meant quite a lot for university students in America because now DeVos is getting rid of Title IX legislation that saw many innocent male students get accused of rape and assault and made it so they had to sue in order to clear their names and get compensation.
