RE: I am considering running for a US House of Representatives Seat in 2020...
If the House of Representatives is where you think you can make the biggest difference and help the most people, then I say jump in with both feet.
In case you decide against running or are unsuccessful, then keep in mind that elections and political office are a fraction of what goes into "democracy" ("rule of the people") - the other slices of the pie include (but are not limited to:
-exercising free speech as often and urgently as possible,
-holding existing office holders accountable without mercy,
-engaging other citizens in direct action on an as-needed basis,
-writing letters to the editor,
-practising citizen journalism (hello, Steemit),
-building awareness in the community, and
-raising hell in general.
So many people view their role in society (whether consciously or unconsciously) as being simply a passive consumer rather than an active (and activated) citizen. All too often we settle for we the people being afraid of the government - the most patriot thing any of us can do is work to reverse that paradigm.
For what it's worth, that's my stinkin' thinkin'.
Agree 100% James. Thanks for your input!
