US presidential campaign: follow the money
If we want to “follow the money” in seeing which sectors may benefit most from the next US President, let's consider campaign donations.
This chart shows donations made to candidates by sector up to the end of July.
Trump received very little external sources when compared to Clinton and to his opponents in the republican party (Bush+Cruz+Rubio).
Clinton’s biggest donors are the financial and communiocation sectors, while the donors in the agribusiness and energy sectors bet mostly on Bush+Cruz+Rubio ($27.8m), much less on Clinton ($2.6m) and almost nothing on Trump ($0.3m).

I always thought that a lot of money would come from the "defense" sector as a favour for the millions spend on wars and such... it seems they hardly contribute.
Yes, I agree this is quite strange. However, there is auite a lot of money also coming to influence Congressmen and Senators which is not accounted in this chart.
