**Putin for 2018 Russian election**
Russians began voting in a presidential election on Sunday, and Vladimir Putin has said he will seek another term as president in next year's election.
Mr Putin has been in power since 2000, either as president or prime minister. If he wins the March election he will be eligible to serve until 2024.
Russian TV journalist Ksenia Sobchak has already said she will stand in the election but opinion polls suggest Mr Putin will win easily.
Russia's main opposition leader, Alexei Navalny, has been formally barred from standing because he was found guilty of embezzlement - a charge he claims was politically motivated.

Look at the Russia of 1998 and now look at the Russia of 2018. Not the external look, the inside look. If you are honest, you will have to admit: Putin was a miracle worker. Yes, he has downsides, is probably corrupt and did and does dirty stuff, but he was probably the best thing that could happen to the Russians. With his record and a half-way fair press reporting, he'd probably win every election on the planet.
