I'm really glad that Trump has taken the initiative to look into voting processes, every time we have a national election, you here stories of vote manipulation, fraud, etc., but we're told that the anomalies are so small and localized that they would have little or no effect on the outcome.
Voting irregularities should not and would not be a concern if the local election commissioners/supervisors were doing their frickin jobs. Although the registered voter numbers posted above don't by themselves prove any fraud, they definitely prove voter roles are not being maintained properly.
Citizens should be able to go to the polls feeling confident that their vote has been properly counted and not undermined by disreputable election officials or ineligible voters
@dmud: There is a nice practical concept to solve that registered voter numbers, and we have it in almost all civilized countries all over the world: Universal suffrage. Every citizen has the right to vote. Passively, without being registered beforehand. The idea that I have to apply first is as sgtrange for Europeans as voting without proper ID.
I guess the key word in your post is citizen. Registration is supposed to be a means of proof of residency in a given county, if properly maintained the roles should prevent me from voting multiple times in different counties, and proper ID proves or augments my identity and residency.
