The problem is police officers aren't taught how to detect and solve crimes.
So, instead, they find someone that "looks" suspicious, and then harass them into confessing to a crime.
And if its not harassment, then its torture.
Our entire "justice" system is just plain broken.
Locks are there to keep honest people honest.
Cops are there to keep honest people honest.
They have no tools for actually handling criminals.
And, far too often, are the criminals.
Just think, every day, a semi-truck sized shipment of drugs rolls into every city. There is no way this size of shipment is not done without the local law's blessing.
It's not even their "job" to detect and solve crimes, but to enforce legislation (no matter how evil). The "detect and solve" is a lie used to justify their existence.
