💵 Steemit Poker League Update - June 18th 💵

in #poker7 years ago (edited)

We need some better logos!

Growing

We now have 60 members in the Steemit Poker League!

So far we've paid out 60 SBD in prizes during testing. Come help us stress test the network, locate issues and figure out which times are best to host games.

No Limits!

More good news, there is no limit on the number of players that can join The League!

I mispoke in a previous post, that 50 player limit came from another site I tested and I confused the two.

So tell all your Steemit friends to sign up and to be sure to add their Steemit name (@username) in their Profile "Tagline" on the Bluff Ave website to receive their prize payouts.

What's Fair?

What seems to be the fairest way to do this is to hold at least two different 10 games series at different times of the day to hopefully accommodate as many people as possible to play.

What Do You Think?

Everyone is free to play in both series if they like; there is actually nothing we can do to prevent it. If anyone has suggestions for what we should call the two series or a better way to handle it, please respond with your ideas.

Logos ... m0ar Logos!

If there is anyone else that's handy with artwork, please feel free to whip up some catchy logo's we can use on The League site, blog posts, Steemit posts etc. Cool art always attracts peoples attention and the more attention we can bring to The League, the bigger payouts we'll likely have available for tournaments and giveaways.

@kryptik, @eirik and @nirado have created or offered to do some logos for The League, thank you!

The Future

Perhaps one day we will even have enough to try to sway the Dev at Bluff Ave to improve upon what is a great start and maybe integrate it with STEEM/SBD. I've already touched on the topic with him, just waiting on a response. Perhaps there are some Dev's in this community that could reach out to him (Kevin Tao) and see if you can help in any way, if he's interested of course.

Game 1 of 10

  • The first game of the 10 game Steemit Poker League series is happening on June 21st at 8PM CST (1AM UTC 6/22).

  • The prize pool is now up to 200 SBD Guaranteed!

  • Everyone who plays in the tournament and signs up before 6/21 (CST) will also receive 1 SBD.

  • On top of that, everyone who plays at least 1 hand will receive 1 SBD.

  • After all 10 games are played, the Top 5 players on the Leaderboard will win additional SBD prizes TBD by posts payouts. We will set at least a guaranteed amount by the halfway point, probably sooner.

Cash Games & SNG's

We have setup a separate group for all non-League games. Anyone can setup a Cash game, SNG or standard Tourney with all kinds of options, including voice chat if you like.

Sign Up here : http://www.bluffave.com/steemcash

You can play for free or host your own freeroll tournaments or however you wish! There is also a leaderboard, but at this time there are no plans on awarding prizes for that leaderboard, it's there for fun.

While The League is playing it's 10 Tournament Season, all other Freeroll games will be held in this "steemcash" group. And again, anyone is welcome to host their own cash games or tournaments in this group.

Updates

I will try to update everyone as much as possible with what's going on here on Steemit, since I know most don't want to sit on Bluff Ave all day to see what's going on.

That said, I will also be posting everything on Bluff Ave as well so you can get updates there if you prefer.

You will only be notified of The League's Season tournaments here on Steemit, but all Freeroll tourney's will be announced on Bluff Ave only, so be sure to check the site for random freeroll tourney's from time to time.

Freerolls

So far we've held 8 Freerolls paying out 60 SBD total. As liquid rewards for posts grow, so do the payouts on the Freerolls, The Leagues tournament season games and the Top 5 players prize pool as well.

Hopefully this will continue to grow. It seems to have garnered a lot of attention rather quickly, so I expect good things.

Keep upvoting, resteeming and telling your friends!

Today's Freerolls

Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who is upvoting The Leagues posts, we really appreciate it! Poker is a game of skill, it is not gambling, and everyone is getting to play for free. So even the little guys have a shot at winning a nice chunk of SBD. All it takes is a little skill and a lot of luck! :)

Good luck to everyone!

Do you write gooder than me do? Do you like poker? Do you want to help? I want you to help! Leave a message in comments if you want to help. Thanks!

Everyone

  • In a reply to this comment, please list the best UTC time for you to play poker for 2 hours.

This will help me schedule the time(s) for the 2nd League's games.

I am on the west coast, PST. The best times for me UTC would be between 0-4 UTC (5pm-9pm PST) because of work. Tonight will be a good test for me and this site.

Edit: It seems as if the times you have been setting them up works perfect.

I would be very interested if it could be around 'european' hours, so until 22:00 (UTC) is my suggestion!

I can help with some designs or management & marketing

Just a question more then a concern, I don't gamble
But how is this application ran and who oversees that no fool play is happening. There have been to many issues in the past where poker software and applications were deemed fraudulent. Ie. Card peaking software and collusion on tables were major issues that poker sites had and some continue to experience.
Thanks for any and all info,
Cheers.

  1. Poker is not gambling, it's a game of strategy.

  2. No one is risking money.

  3. The guys running Bluff Ave. wrote the software. It is not open source afaik.

  4. I doubt anyone would bother to make "card peaking software" for the Bluff Ave. site. I don't see it being worth anyone's time, considering it's a poker site that has no money involved.

  5. There's absolutely no way for us to know if someone's cheating, but it's highly unlikely they're doing it via some software on this obscure poker website, that only uses play money, no one's used since 2015 it appears.

Collusion is our biggest concern and multiple accounts. And to be honest, it's going to be hard to catch people, just like it is on the big poker sites.

Right now, our only countermeasure is to attempt to verify that everyone is a verified individual on Steemit, that have a reputation to maintain to continue on Steemit, so there is little incentive to ruin that by cheating at a community poker game with very little money involved.

If we see an account that has no introduction post & a low reputation they will be removed from The League, as we have already done and will continue to do.

Someone cheating at this poker game is basically no different than someone lying about needing money on Steemit or plagiarizing articles and receiving donations and/or upvotes ... and I've seen a lot of that going on.

It's hard to catch no matter how or where it happens. All we can do is our best to try to stop it from happening in the first place by carefully selecting who is allowed in The League and identifying those we missed and fixing that asap.

These are good replies. I may be able to help review play for unusual patterns if we have hand replays or histories. I have some experience in this matter.

Looking forward to signing up.

Thanks, be sure to put your @steemit username in your "Tagline" on the profile page at Bluff Ave prior to requesting to join.

Thanks so much for the reply.
Trust me I know a thing or two about poker and yes you're very right. Poker is a great complex game of strategy, but don't be fooled. Part of being a great poker player is understanding that in any game of odds you must gamble to win. I'm sure we don't have to get into that and that you're very likely up to speed on how or when the odds are in your favor.
Great to see that your site is free roll and more on the friendly-competition side of things. From there, like you said it's all about honesty and transparency. Cheaters will be shamed out and honest people hopefully succeed hopefully that's what the future brings.

Cheers.

That is the reason i play. I love prediction and odds making. This looks like a fun setup. Sign up, its no different then any other contests on here expect that it is a good experience for your mind. Because this site doesn't allow cash deposits it should be safe for people with addictive personalities as well.

I might have to give it a shot.
See you on the tables maybe : )

even though i lost very fast today, it was fun and a fun group of people. Thx to @tuck-fheman

Wow, this is a great idea! I never thought of this! Steemit can be used for so many more applications than we realize. Growing up, I would love to play online poker and became distraught whenever the govt shut it down. It's good to see people are still finding ways of having fun! Can't wait to join and have a good time :)

Might as well just hand the all the money over to me, cause I'm signing up.

I hope this will work, because right now its amazing!

But Tuck, you should really join WhaleShare discord https://discord.gg/zsdWYQX, there are many amazing people who would like to play and also maybe help with the prizepool. We are opened to everything! :)

I tried contacting fuzzy about that, but not sure I got the @officialfuzzy in chat, the guy in chat just wanted sexual favors. ;)

Fuzzy mentioned whaleshares long ago, but I never got a personal follow up, and fuzzy knows, I'm all about the personal follow ups. :b

Haha! He wanted what?

No hard feelings tuck!

Anyway, how are you doing chip-leader?

Colour on the steemit logo is a bit shit. Sorry about that!

Sweet thanks!

I like designing logos. I'll make a series of logos to pick from.

Thanks Ruben!
