Poetry Slam Challenge #4 Entries - Two Poems
I love these challenges because they remind me of old school writer group prompts we did weekly. So glad for steemians giving such inspirations to each other and sharing now!

I see the rules say you can put more than one entry, but they should be in the same post clearly separated. So I'm adding this in to my first one, hoping I do this right! Oh my, this will get long.
Entry #1:
From Aunt Rose's Garden
There was a little lady
lady daily on the city bus
bus from down town after-noon
after-noon every day she would say
"Say, if any body here is hungry, come
come along with me, we have a plenty
plenty for supper there will be soup.."
Soup of the day, meats, veggies
veggies from her garden, it changed
changed menu for seasons, made fresh
fresh chili for cold warmed souls, or sand which
which cooled on the more blistering temps.
Temps were welcome, regulars too
too new she didn't care, who she knew before
before they came to her door, after breaking
breaking breakfest or bread together
together they were joined, family and friends
friends she had all through the city.
City lights at night were not brighter
brighter than her eyes as she beamed
beamed like an angel blinding light
light showed her honesty, people couldn't believe
believe she still kept going on in these days
days full of love, she shone on.
On some days cops would come
come for food, and warning it was outlaw to do
do such a thing, all the while they too ate
ate her warm hot cakes or tamales, complimenting the cook
cook she always loved, feeding them like all her other friends
friends apologizing "Maam tastes great, but.." that she should stop
stop she never would, it was in her blood to throw a party
party for many, how could you ban someone from sharing?
Sharing is caring, and that should never be wrong.

This was inspired by two things at once, there actually used to be a woman who would tell everybody about food she would be making and when, every time she got on and when stops were being made. A lot of the times people were homeless and riding the bus for a time, so it worked out for them.
But the first time I heard it, I was in shock and didn't believe that was actually happening and a real intent. As I kept seeing it, there was an easier thing to accept. Though hungry I was still too shy but a lot of people got over that quickly and went. If they were new I would tell them about it too.
There are still many people like Aunt Rose out there, and it's amazing. They don't even stop when they get too old to work, as long as they can, they will keep spreading the meals and love to every one. That's how everybody should be more like, if you see somebody hungry, and it's in your power to do so, then you should help them. Person, race religion, etc, it shouldn't matter. Animals too, we should take care of them, even plants that are thirsty make me feel bad!
How can so many people just turn a blind eye? We should always want to do this. It's part of being human, and kind.
Of course this is also very much what Garden of Eden and Quinn do too. So check them out if you haven't, support them or find somebody in your own community to support if you can! Spread the love and take care of each other.
Entry #2:
Boat Rockin Good and Hard Times
lets say i hold you through the night
night so rough bough creaks not breaks the haunted
haunted souls sing waves crash rocking
rocking in my arms roll heads bed slides
slides right to left dreams as boat drifts
drift wood is no good we wake
wake to dark still what will it take
take this pill for headache now
now just rest up fight the sick sea
sea of love you and me make it through
through rough waters and land yes we can
can of beans not many things still meals to be
be all that may it's a new day until down we fall
fall into bed of leaves not sea dry crisp autumn breeze
breeze way carry me away harvest begins moon dances.

Pictures taken at Log Cabin Village's gardens in Fort Worth.
I put hoola hoops in the loop poetry post, it seemed fitting.
Roses were from my yards.
This started out as a song I burst out into randomly and tried catching on paper
.. turned into a sing song joking thing, train of thought
... then lead to a tale about a long trip on a ship
and a love story that made it through hard times
for many seasons and celebrating it all.
My head just went a little crazy there maybe.
I probably missed the mark in getting half of all that
out there in these little snippets, I know.
It also made me think of one time my ex woke me up
in his sleep he was shaking the bed and yelling out
"stop rocking the boat!!!" to one of his friends
as he held on to the blankets and pillow
for dear life it seemed, he never even woke up during it
but that made some really good morning laughs!
Thanks. Hope ya'll enjoyed something in this too though, I had fun!
Hey lunnettik! I really like your poem, how it reads and the word pattern. I saw your reply re butterflies just a few days ago and was so happy and sorry I missed it that original day! I love your butterfly/hammock story - you have so many cuz you are right in the funnel of the Central Flyway migration, besides your warm weather! (I'm south of KC.) I didn't reply to that one, because as I was doing so, I decided that i wanted to send a butterfly pic of mine to you. And i'm still learning how to do some stuff, such as that, haha. Just about got it so I can post. Have a good one, and again really dig yr poem, and the what behind it! oh and swallowtails (!!) have long/rounded "tails" off the bottom of each wing, easy to see, I'm sure you can see them in your pics. (I'm no expert, but learning a few)
Hey Cubby thanks for reading and talking with me! Great info on the butterflies too, I found the pic reply before seeing this one, so happy you got it figured out and I didn't even have to wait for it. Ohh I think there's few other reasons we have so many around here too.. my family says our botanical gardens and other places actually release a lof ot them often.
