With each and every day, we find another opportunity to rewrite the wrongs of yesterday, the failures, the disappointments, the imperfection… And though we indeed cannot erase our history, that ugly past which like a shadow at noon day desires so much to stay, we can occupy ourselves with a strong positivism that it makes our day beautiful, magical, and full of energy, like grace notes struck by a maestro on an old antique piano.

And a sudden reawakening, a deep soulful awareness, every second of the clock strikes hope, the glimmer growing brighter with each and every dawn. The world laments deterioration. Yet for you, life gets ever better. The essence of existence is existence. Failure is not the end of the journey, it’s the beginning. When we fall, we learn, and then we rise, stronger, better, wiser.

When the sun casts its light across the eastern horizon, the young African child forgets the storm that shook the night and rent the palm trees apart. He forgets the cold, the darkness, the fear, the hopeless stretch of night time, a constant reminder that we can win if we never give up. He plays the sands of the earth and his joy is restored.

If we can believe in the sound of the flowing river, the evening croak of the toads in the swamps at our backyards, the crickets whistle, the pound of the mortar and pestle as my grandmother makes some soup, the light bugs playing around the fire, the clatter of rain upon the roof, the raging thunder, the silence after the rain, the cocks crow at dawn, then we know we will always make through no matter what…. And now another day has just begun, another day of hope!
