It's the life..
The life, everything to be desired.
Laughter, singing, highpitched, like no care in the world needed.
How it came, when, why, really can't tell
The screaming thought like a fish hook through her skin.
This isn't it, more there is, more you can have.... more did she crave.
A day, the constellation settled on a sign of the zodiac, anno domini
Even if she tried, words to hold back could she not
"give me my life"
a silent prayer, a whisper from the heart.

Suddenly, eyes opened, darkness, woodlands, evil in abundance
where is this place? how come? questions arising
"It's the life", the scales, finally fallen
Had she known 'the prayer' not to make
Not true, false, all is
Wondering, disillusioned,
The grotesque creature hold her back forcefully did attempt
The terror felt! heard it say, " remain you must: you belong with us: you belong here! "
No! No! again no!
"give me my life "

One creature from the other, could she not tell, everywhere
trees, all similar, densely populated
the hand of fate... A light she saw.
one ray, reaching her, several vibrant colours
through the woodland, every creature within, did it slip past.
The thought..."that's the life"
Towards it she walked, reach it she must, gaze fixed, focus steady, resolutely, every step she bled
Amid several obstacles, wounds, bruises everywhere
Yet, her gaze steady, the light, the life
Strength like she never knew, welled up on the inside, her gaze shift, not ever.
"give me my life"

Out, the edge of a cliff....a sigh
Peering down, no landing in sight
The light, great distance away
live to die, did she? All to still give in and remain?
Then the thought "leap, have faith! "
Faith? Death, certainly death, she should have stayed.
The thought, persistent "take the leap, you die to live again"
No advance, no retreat, eyes shut, the plunge did she take.
Falling, like an eternity, no landing
sudden change in wind direction
Daring to open her eyes
Blue skies! Soaring! A perfect landing! Perfectly whole, strong!
"This is her life"
