Across the Binary Bridge

in #poetryyesterday

Fingers dance on glass, a silent beat,
Miles melt to pixels, bitter and sweet.
The screen glows blue, a window pane,
To lives lived elsewhere, sun or rain.

We send our thoughts on fragile thread,
A curated self, the words we've read.
A photo smiles, a perfect frame,
Kindling embers of connection's flame.

Is this a hand reaching through the wire?
Or just the echo of a soul's desire?
We build our rooms in light and code,
Easing the weight of a lonely road.

We learn new names, see distant faces,
Filling up vast and empty spaces.
Sharing a laugh, a sudden fright,
Anchored by lines in the digital light.

Yet outside the pane, the world still turns,
The real sun warms, the physical yearns.
For touch that lingers, voice that's near,
A whisper held, removing fear.

This binary bridge, a marvel spun,
Connects us all, beneath the sun.
But remember the earth, the sky, the rain,
And the living warmth that eases pain.

For screens can flicker, signals fade,
But human hearts were truly made,
To beat in rhythm, side by side,
With nothing but the air to hide.
