An Onomatopoeia in Time

in #poetry8 years ago

Mr pipo clock

I flick my Zippo and clink

Nostalgic fumes;

Always causing me to think

The flame ignites my pipe, poof

One tender love

Other gals: I am aloof

The tobacco, it sizzles

Pour ma chérie

Novelty never fizzles

My door’s hinges now creaking

Twenty-one years

The old faucet is leaking

How the time passes, tick-tock

Hair turning grey

How I long to break the clock.

The morning rooster, it crows

Reminding me,

“That was many years ago.”

Irish peasant farmer smoking pipe, 1890s

Burnt tobacco, it crunches

Nicotine numbs

Memories come in bunches

Man-in-the-Moon rises, whisp...

He laughs at me

Summertime air turning crisp

Her face flashing with a bang

T’was but a dream

Such a cruel, sudden pang

The Cluster Headache

Ashes to the ashtray, whoosh

The bygones…gone

A new endeavor to push

Hear now the aeroplane roar

Ten thousand klicks

Rigamarole nevermore!

The long-awaited kiss, smack!

I am complete

Never, ever looking back
