EMBERS (Poem)
EMBERS
The 18th hour drew near
And the sky was damp with rain
As I rushed for shelter
In view was a pile of red hot coal
Gasping for air
Fighting to stay alive
Against all odds
It burned deep red
As the smoke ascended
It grew smaller
It's inner core unharmed
Ready to wait the night
And never give up the fight
It reminded me of us
Our waltz in the rain
Arm in arm as the sky poured
Unbothered and very well dampened
Not by the rain
But by your love all over me
You are my coal in the rain
We will never be put out
For the embers of our love will forever smolder…
