The Living Shadow

You come looking for me whenever you feel blue and alone,
You tell me your darkest secrets unbeknownst to all,
You can curse me when someone has done you wrong,
You blame me at times for I can’t make you feel at home.


I am the light who keeps your balance and hope in check,
I am the only one who listens and never did once complain,
I am the constant companion who can tolerate your air,
I am the memory that reminds you home and makes you safe.


Together, we will fight the darkness and your demons.
Together, we will mull over your dreams and aspirations.
Together, we are one and no one can tell us apart.
Together, we will live to keep each other alive.


In the four corners of this room—
You are living...
I am the shadow...
We are the living shadow...
