Nip it while it's small,
Ignore it at your peril.
If you do not heed,
What used to be one grows heads;
Attacking you from all sides!

Problems in our lives have a way of multiplying, and not in linear fashion (adding up from one thing to another). Their combined impacts seem to multiply the effects that they have in our lives, and could overwhelm us if we routinely ignore them. Granted that there are tragedies that we cannot avoid and some of them come out of the blue already devastatingly large, (such as a major illness, natural catastrophe, etc.) and dealing with these are a different thing altogether; we know that there are things that we put off that could come back at us if we put them off.

Procrastination might be a sound tactic in the hopes of waiting out a problem to become irrelevant or have someone else deal with it so we don't have to expend our own energy and resources, but this can all easily backfire. The tanka above is a small reminder to deal with your small adversities quickly as you can before they are given a chance to become a major headache. It may be hard to pay the price now, but image all the sorts of trouble you do not want to be in; your future self will thank you.

So whether it's a repair or alteration to something you've been putting off, a small illness you've been avoiding medical attention to, or even cleaning things out of your room (clutter does aggravate stress!), do it before it does you in.

Sometimes, the only way is through.

Thanks and see you on the next one!
