THAT I DO NOT MISS (POEM)

in #poetry7 years ago

That I do not miss

Starving my skin of your often-light kiss
Carving my fears into monuments like these,
different sizes I furnish the interior walls of my shelter,
I seal the curtains too, so you do not peep through
Your eyes are sharp as razor that I always knew

That I do not miss

When your eyes would flicker with delight, birthing a grin that blossomed
I could draw it with my eyes closed, I could draw it with the same ink I
draw the lies with, the lies I would recite to you when you dared to hiss
That I do not miss
Cracking my cheeks with a smile, that smile I would compel onto the surface
that surface your eyes would feed on to a brim of satisfaction,
Thinking; that is bliss

That I do not miss

Polishing my mind with ignorance until it sparkled, then waiting
Patiently for that kind behest to step in
so, I could proudly tell you that it slipped my mind
I would tether my glare with an excuse known solely to your kind
I would grip onto that rope and blow columns of wind just
like Tarzan
You would wish that it were tethered around your neck
Tighter than the closure of your jaws when I danced
eloquently with trouble, you would yell louder than when
I tore through your purse on purpose, that it is amiss

That I do not miss

My eyes resemble your presence now
Light and faint, like my shoulders when you
Still held them on your palm, they know now the calm

That I miss

They know now the chance that I missed to
Lay bare my bosom to you

That I miss
