Chains

Day by day I toil. The work is never done.

I labor in vain. The day is done, but work still remains. The toils never cease. No matter what is done there is no completion.
When the day is over work still remains. When the sun dips below the horizon the labor of today remains for tomorrow.
There are some who enjoy this. Those who feel that a task unfinished is a job for tomorrow. Those who labor for the sake of gain.

Some need closure. There are those who enjoy the thrill of the chase. The end of the of the deal when you shake hands and move on to the next buyer. To leave my prison, where the product is never sold.
The shelves are never empty, the deal is never done. To go back to the days of old, where the caravans sojourned across the planes. It has been lost to the ages, the men of legend.

To go back to the days of Marco Polo. To trek across the lands to exotic lands for exchange and profit. Today we are in chains. Never leaving the products on the shelves, that will be there until the end of time.
