To my Favorite "Almost" - Poem #3

It's been a while,
since our last exchange of hellos
since our last late night calls and texts
since our last chat
about random things
Things that bother us or
simply just things that we
would like to talk about

It is your smile
that one simple thing
which brightens up my day
that one simple jewelry you wear
which also bring smile to my face

Being with you for a long time
made me see your strengths
and even your weaknesses
made me see how you view
the world and all the struggles
that are in front of you

Each day passes by and all
you think about is how
you're going to survive for a day
A day full of stresses, worries
problems, and everything
that makes you feel worse

Often times you think
that you are not worth
of the love that
this world has to offer
Unworthy because you feel
that you'll just end up
being just a disappointment
to that someone who loves you

We've been through a lot of
"Ilangan" moments which were
caused by the feelings we once had
Feelings that can never
be pushed due to circumstances
and knowing that there's someone
who's already in your heart,
as well as in my heart

Love has taught me that
even if you love someone, but
fate doesn't agree with it,
you can never have them
in your arms no matter how much
you wanted to, and how much
you fight for it

Love has also taught me
that if you really love someone,
sacrifice will always be
a big thing that one has to offer
A sacrifice of keeping someone
not by having a relationship, but
through the friendship that
you both build together
for a very long, long time

As what I've written on the letter,
you'll always be that someone
whom I always wanted to have, but
I can never have in my arms
You'll always be that someone
who became my favorite "almost"

You'll always be the one whom
I consider my TOTGA,
The One That Got Away
My almost past
my almost present,
my almost future,
my almost everything.
