Senses Attack
As I walking past the canteen,
something smells alluring.
Seducing my empty stomach,
that has been grumbling in agony,
since early in the morning.
Oh! What a wonderful sight!
My stomach is grumbling and yearning,
as I see the food,
with such vibrant colours
and endless choices.
Am I hearing things?
“Pick me!” the fried rice shouted,
“ Try me” the salad whispered,
“ I’m tasty !” the chicken curry claimed.
And I have decided,
To give in to their voices.
The temptation pays off!
When the savoury curry explodes in my mouth,
the warmth of fried rice comforting my soul,
and the freshness of the salad that cleanses my palate.
So I gobble down everything.
Like a python devours its prey.
But after the comfort comes torment.
As my stomach is cramped,
and my body won’t budge from the seat.
Food is no longer what I seek,
but that tempting deep slumber.
