Fair child (an original poem)
The fair child you are
The interested, the curious
The wondering soul of youth
The excited, and spurious
The world, so near, yet so far
The aged grow long in tooth
The sound of this unstyled mess
The eager mind, hurried by life
The beginning of all ends
The sureness of eventual rest
The summer closing, winters strife
The warmth of love may make amends
The falling away, into death
