in #plant10 days ago

Angraecum is a beautiful, heat-loving houseplant. It is an orchid with the scientific abbreviation Angcm or Angráecum.

This perennial flower is common in tropical areas. People often grow it indoors.

Angraecum can be found in tropical Africa and Madagascar. It also grows in the Comoros, Seychelles, Mascarene Islands, and Sri Lanka. This plant thrives at elevations from sea level up to 6,500 feet.

The plant has a single main stem, though some types branch out. Its thick leaves are oblong or strap-shaped. They grow close together in two rows. Most Angraecum flowers are white, but some are yellow, ochre, or green.

This houseplant starts forming buds in November. Its star-shaped flowers bloom on upright stems. The blooms last for 2-3 weeks. Some types flower until February. At night, the flowers give off a strong, pleasant scent.

Lighting is important for growing Angraecum. The plant needs bright, indirect light to grow well and bloom a lot. Direct sunlight can harm it. In the wild, these plants grow under trees in tropical forests. When grown indoors, they need at least 12 hours of light each day.
