Leucojum is a plant that grows in the ground. It can be found in Iran, Turkey, and Central Europe. This plant grows to be about 40 centimeters tall. It can flower from spring to fall, but this depends on the type. By planting different types together, you can have flowers blooming all season.

The leaves grow at the same time as the buds. The flowers are up to 3 centimeters wide. They can grow alone or in groups that look like umbrellas. The flowers are usually white or pink. After the flowers are done blooming, seed pods grow on the plant.

The buds are round and black. The roots of the plant look like brown bulbs. They have thick roots that die over time.

One type of leucojum is the spring snowflake, or Leucojum vernum. In the spring, it has white flowers that look like bells. The petals have green spots. This type grows to be 20 to 30 centimeters tall and about 8 centimeters wide.

The long, green leaves can be up to 25 centimeters long. Some kinds of spring snowflakes have a yellow edge on the petals (var. carpathicum). Others (var. vagneri) bloom in the southern areas at the end of winter.
