THAILAND Diaries #1- Holiday in Phuket- Resort Life

Nowadays, Phuket is a popular destination for the tourists coming from all over the world. Regardless of the season, this city is always crowded. Therefore it is better to search and decide for the accomodation, activities, transportation etc. long before landing Phuket. For the accomodation, of course your choice depends your budget and expectation from a holiday (relax/fun etc.). However if you ask me, Kamala region is one of the best places to stay. Kamala is on the west coast of Phuket and just 15 min away from the center Patong. Patong has a crazy nightlife and must be visitted at least for one night but during the day the center is not so attractive. Sea is not so clear and there is no meaning to get lost in the crowd. On the contrary Kamala has a better beach, and you can find more quiet and peaceful places to stay for a romantic and relaxing tropical experience. Be sure that you will get tired enough after the boat trips or after a night in Patong so it is better to recharge yourself in a more quiet region.

We stayed in Thavorn Beach Village Resort located in private Nakalay Bay between Kamala and Patong Beach and it was a lovely experience. It is really like a private village in a bay and even there are lots of people staying in the resort you don't feel the effect of the crowd because the resort has a huge land. As most space is dedicated to natural areas, you can truly enjoy a tropical paradise without disturbance from the outside world. I want to give details about our stay in here because we enjoyed the special activites and the time we spent in this place, and I reccommend you(especially for couples) to spend some days with a similar concept in a resort.

Stay in a Beach Cottage

We preffered one of the Beach Cottages which has direct access to beach it made me feel like we rent a house on the beach which was very nice. Waking up with an amazing sea view gives you energy. Also sleeping with wave sounds would be perfect if there were not so many mosquitos so we kept the windows closed during nights and additionally we used the repellents and electric mats provided by the hotel. There is an outdoor shower just next to your room and I think it is an amazing feature. Just make sure you are ok with the friendly lizards (in Thai they call it Jing-Jok)that may visit your place:) They are completely harmless and shy so no need to be afraid. By the way if you prefer pool instead of sea, there are also cottages which has direct access to the pool.

Enjoy Buffet Menu

Buffet menu both for the breakfast and dinner is so rich. You can taste different meals from Thai Cousine or you can go with the regular meals and salads without spicy sauce. I especially reccommend to eat fresh tropical fruits all day long. They are so delicious and full with vitamins.

Join Thai Cooking Class

After trying different meals during your stay you may wonder the secrets of cooking Thai food. You can attend a cooking class and you can learn how to prepare a special Thai dinner for your friends when you turn back to your country. If you are a terrible cook like me I gurentee you and your Thai Chef will have fun :)

We learned 3 meal "Tom Yum Prawn", "Sea Side Pad Thai", and "Green Curry Chicken". My favourite is Green Curry Chicken because we served in a coconut and i both liked the way it looks and its taste.

Reserve a Romantic Dinner on the Beach

Having a dinner on the beach during sunset is so romantic. They prepare a charming atmosphere for you. However be sure that you don't do the cooking class activity and the romantic dinner in the same day like us :) That's why we missed the sunset for the romantic dinner. We were waiting to get hungry after eating all of the food that we cooked in the lesson. What can we do, they were all delicious! :) I can say that we are full with seafood in that day.

Spoil Yourself in the Spa

As you may know, Thai Masseurs are famous all over the world. They really know how to do their job! We have chosen full body oil massage for 1 hour and that 1 hour was one of the most relaxing times of my life. We were in a private couple room in the nature. There was also a outdoor jakuzi just next to our room. We started the day with this massage session but I'm sure you can go for it in the afternoon after a touristic day which includes lots of walking or swimming. They also serve you herbal tea before and after the spa. Enjoy your drinks and relax...

Pool Bar

In the afternoon between 4pm-6pm is happy hour. There is a "buy 1 get 1" campaign. I suggest you to try local Thai Rum "SangSom" with the accompany of nice music. You can sit in the stools in the pool because the pool bar is literally in the pool. Bartenders are generous so you will start to simile even after 1 drink :)

Play with Animals

In the morning you can have chance to play with cute baby rabbits, meet with a giant turtle or feed the colorful parrots. There is a special area near the beach that you can spend some time with lovely animals but it is available on for a few hours so don't miss it. :)

Different Observation: Low Tide in the Sea

During low tide at Nakalay bay, water level reduces and it cause the exposing stony coral beds and various marine life. This happens approximately six hours per day.

During this time swimming is not so easy and safe so it is better you prefer the pool for swimming. However spend some time walking on top of stone coral beds and observing sea creatures . It is interesting activity that you don't see often.

Afterall we enjoyed our stay in Thavorn Beach Village Resort which started with Hibiscus- Roselle welcome drink from their own organic farm and finished with a comfortable transportation service. (PS.:Roselle is a species of Hibicus native to West Africa and is said to lower blood pressure and made you relax which is all you need after a long journey.) I suggest you to have a similar experience in Phuket especially if you are travelling as a couple. I'm sure you will be treated well and you will leave with the sweet memories that your will remember for the rest of your life...
