Tamanawas Falls | Mt Hood, OR

Happy Wednesday. What better day to share another gorgeous waterfall with you all. I have not done this trail during any other season yet but I have to say, the snow made it feel like something straight out of Narnia. Having lived in Alaska for two years (from Florida, yep!) I fell in love with hiking during the winter. There's just something about snow covered trees that gets me so pumped.

About a week ago one of my best friends Alex (not on Steemit yet, I'm workin on it!) and I ventured off to Mt Hood to hike a trail we had both been eyeing. If you haven't already gathered, I'm always on the hunt for waterfalls. This is the first real snow adventure I had been on this winter but I had been craving it so bad and was finding myself missing Juneau more and more because we hadn't spent any time in the snow. Tamanawas Falls is now a must on my list for anybody who comes to visit. The trail isn't too long and the elevation gain is minimal but the reward is incredible. Cooper loved it even after she was smacked in the face with snow falling off of the trees every few minutes. Love this adventurous girl of mine.
If you ever have a chance to come to Portland I highly recommend checking this falls out!

For those of you wondering, yes we do everything with our kids. We often are told that we can't do a certain trail with them or get concerned looks if we do a trail that is viewed as difficult but we have made a point to get out and explore since the day they were both born. Everything I share (photos, info, opinions) is because I hope to encourage others to get out and do the things they love while sharing that experience with their kids. While Hudson isn't pictured in this post, Hudson and Cooper both are full of life when we're out exploring nature and I feel so incredibly thankful to have this chance to show them this beautiful world we live and experience these places with them. Luckily for us, we moved to a state that is full of other family hikers and have had the opportunity to meet a couple of really great friends along the way.

Over the past couple of years I have made 99% of my friends entirely thanks to social media. When we moved to Portland I stumbled across a girl (Alex) on Instagram who had just visited a trail I was interested in and noticed she also lived in our neighborhood. I quickly sent her a DM and the rest is history. Since that day we have become adventure pals and try to get out with the kids multiple times a week to explore our beautiful state and beyond! I cannot even begin to explain how thankful I am for social media connections and I am so excited to connect with new friends here on Steemit!

Great spot, although it looks chilly but invigorating. Beautiful scenery.

Great pictures! I want to go to there!

Next time you visit

Beautiful shots and great messages to other adventurers - thanks for the winter wonderland.

That's really great mom.
What a fantastic place!

wow what a beautiful landscape, they look like postcard photos, almost unreal, nature shows us that it is created by a very intelligent and almighty being, here in Venezuela there is only one state where snow falls, never had the opportunity to coincide with it, I lived in oriental lands or hot lands, so this view is very surprising, thank you for sharing, cordial greetings.

Awesome and your from Portland. I was going to Bagby hotsprings soon for a 3 day or so trip to soak and hike a bit!

Love seeing your beautiful waterfall. That's awesome! And getting kids involved with nature from a young age is perfect. I was always outDoors!

Following... And I shouldn't vote as my power is low... But why not!

Keep being yourself! Let's go hiking. And do you have discord?

Haha thanks for the vote! I see you're from Portland too! I have not made it to Bagby yet but it's on my list. No idea what discord is?

It's a chat application for you to connect with other steemians. I have a link to my own chatroom in my recent blog.

And yeah Bagby is high on my list. I've grew up around here so love exploring nature.

Especially when there is snow at Bagby. That's just amazing when the snow is falling and instantly melting on the hot water surface with a unique sound.

So what other places are on your list?

That's so beautiful! Also, I totally love that you take your kids to do cool outdoor stuff. My parents did that with me and I definitely appreciate nature more because of it. Good work!

Winter hiking is the best. Lovely shots and waterfall.
