Durga or goddess Durga (Sanskrit: “the Inaccessible”) in Hinduism is a principal form of the Goddess, who is also known as Devi and Shakti. ... According to mythology, Durga was created for the slaying of the buffalo demon named Mahisasura by Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, and the few other gods, who were not that powerful to kill him. Thus the festival is a symbol of victory of Good over Evil.It also is in part a harvest festival that marks the goddess as the motherly power behind all of life and creation
In India, an annual festival is observed which is popularly known as Durgotsav. This festival is observed over the 4 days and it features elaborate temple and stage decorations (pandals), scripture recitation, performance arts.
