SteemStarGazing thread: Upvotes for your week-end star photos of Ursa Major, Taurus, or the Southern Cross
If you have a tripod and a cell phone or camera where you can control the settings manually, here are some targets for some fun photography this week-end. I'm a novice photographer, but from my past experimentation and depending on sky darkness in your area, you might want to try setting cell phone shutter speed from 10 to 30 seconds and ISO to 800 or higher.
On Monday and/or Tuesday, Jan 28 and 29, @remlaps and @cmp2020 will be using our auxilliary accounts to upvote your star photos of constellations from this week-end's sky. If you are in the northern hemisphere, comment on this post with your original photo of Ursa Major. If you're in the southern hemisphere, comment with your original photo of the Southern Cross, or from anywhere in the world, you can comment with an original photo of Taurus. Along with our upvotes, we also encourage commenters to discuss the photos and exchange upvotes.
You can use the online planetarium to locate these constellations in the sky for your area.
From pixabay and wikipedia commons, here are some photos and diagrams showing what the constellations look like. All are licensed for reuse.

Here are some back-yard photos of Ursa Major and Taurus on the night of Jan 26. Photos were taken with a Nikon Coolpix B500 camera in "star trail" mode. Click on the photos for a better view.
Ursa Major (the Big Dipper)
This was facing east, and the lower part of the sky is fairly bright because of a light dome from Philadelphia and suburbs in the "Main Line" area.
Taurus
This one was facing west, so the sky was a bit darker. Taurus is in the center, emerging from the trees. Also in photo are Orion (lower-left) and Auriga (top-center/right-ish). The picture was facing to the west, so the sky is darker (though still not particularly dark).
