Are arts universities even relevant anymore?

Happy Monday Steemians!

I have just started my longtime wish of learning photography. I was a little fed up with always having to wait for photos on productions and also being dependent on someone else's skill sets. So I said what the heck! If I can teach myself to compose, play bass, computers and crypto then why should photography be any different?

Here's my point.... TEACH YOURSELF! Why must we spend so much money on universities when the Public University of knowledge exists at our fingertips through @Steemit, @Dtube, Youtube, Vimeo and tutorial sites.

After a few tutorial vids by AMAZING online in the field Photographers, I edited the above owl photo into this:

Not bad huh! I know I am no way "there" yet, but the tools and technology make it so available for me to jump right in!

After that experiment I went ahead and teleported @whaledancemedia to the Brooklyn Bridge (LOL)

We then made a test post on social media and PEOPLE ACTUALLY believed she was there. Mind you all this in just one night of tutorial vids.

So I asked myself the inevitable question... are universities even relevant anymore in today's information super highway?

Looking forward to your comments! Keep it Steeming!

Bassically yours,

Snow Owl

To study new topics all by yourself one needs a lot of discipline and will to stay focused. Not everybody is able to do that at the moment. So maybe we need universities to train these skills.

To the question in your title, my Magic 8-Ball says:

Without a doubt
