Turnera ulmifolia, commonly known as the yellow alder, buttercup bush, or sage rose, is a bright and cheerful flower that adds a tropical charm to gardens and landscapes. With its striking yellow petals and delicate appearance, this plant is more than just an ornamental beauty,it also has ecological and medicinal benefits.

Turnera ulmifolia is a fast-growing, evergreen shrub native to tropical and subtropical regions, particularly in the Americas and the Caribbean. It typically grows between 1 to 3 feet tall, forming a bushy, compact shape. The plant thrives in warm climates and is often found in roadsides, gardens, and disturbed areas. The flowers are a brilliant yellow with a dark center, resembling buttercups. They bloom in the morning and close by the afternoon, lasting only a day—hence, they are sometimes called “one-day flowers.” However, new blooms appear daily, ensuring a constant display of color.
