Mobile Photography - What I know.

Android user? That's cool!
I use a OnePlus 5 (had to wait for 2-3 weeks more for 5T). Okay let's jump to the topic. So OnePlus 5's camera software is pretty dope! It has a professional mode, slow-mo, panorama, time-lapse.

What will be useful in this blog is the professional mode.

Looks cool? Well guess what. It's an untouched jpg image. I tried uploading the raw version of it (.dng), seems like steem does not recognize .dng as an image file.

So yeah, let's talk about the configuration of the camera:

ISO

The ISO measures the sensitivity of the image sensor in the camera. The higher it is, the more brighter the image will be. However the more grainier too!

My ISO in this particular picture is 200.

Exposure

It is the amount of light per unit area reaching the image sensor. So imagine you are on the rooftop, watching the sky at night. You decide to act like you are a camera and your eye lid is the shutter. Initially your eyes are closed and you open them. After a fraction of a second you close them again. What do you see? (answer: total blackness).

Now let's increase the amount of time your eyes are kept opened. What is the difference? (answer: you are able to see things.. stars, a lot of them).

This, I believe is a great analogy of exposure.

The higher the exposure, the more details you have! My exposure was 30 in the above image.

Infinite Focus

YEAH, OnePlus phone has the manual focus in the camera software! Infinite focus simply allows you to focus on the very distant objects.

Conclusion

Basically, this is all you need to capture these types of images.
Do note that when exposure is high, there should be no movement done while handling the phone. Best is to get a tripod, place the phone on the tripod, place a timer of 3s, press the trigger and let the phone be on its own.

Happy photography!
