Walking in a 1680's city (Part 2) | Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay
Basilica del Santisimo Sacramento, one of the oldest churches of Uruguay. It was reconstructed numerous times due to diferent belic accidents and a lightling storm. (This territori was disputed between Spain and Portugal from it's foundation in 1680 to 1822)
View of the Basilica from the top of the lighthouse.
Portón de Campo. It was the entrance of the old city, protected by a wall.
View of the river from the outside of the historic quarter.
Colonial street.
Ruins of the 17th century Convent of San Francisco, it's now the house of numerous pigeons.
Beautiful photos, but I'd love to get some more context on them. What am I looking at here? What is the history behind these buildings?
You are right, i should take my time and talk about the trip and the city. I'll edit it to be more informative. Thanks for the review
