The Dinosaur Bird!

Here he is! The original African Loerie (Turaco) also known as a Plantain Eater, or a "Go away bird"
Folklore has it that if this bird nests in a village, it's call wards off demons. It shouts with a sharp sound and warns the people that demons and agents of the dark are around. Also called the shouter at enemies. The people in Africa call it the "Kwadira" which means the "Shouter at enemies"

The great news is that we have Loeries nesting in the big tree right in front of our home in Johannesburg, South Africa! Will this ward off enemies? I have no idea but I am as usual more interested in the birds themselves. Mom and dad share the nest sitting duties and we love to watch the shift, change-over and to hear the calls for the change!
