Welcome to the Dead Sea

in #photography7 years ago

I guess the best way to describe getting into the salty water of the dead sea is space.
I mean, it really does feel as if you float there with no gravity. The water are so salty that it feels like you might pop out into the heavy air above.
Truly crazy. I came there to see the sunrise at a point where hot springs are pouring into the water.

The water in the dead sea are kind of oily, i'm not sure as to why exactly but I assume it's due to the high levels of salt in the water.

Another reason to come during the sunrise is that this place, even in autumn, is super hot. It was the beginning of October and by noon it was 39 degrees (102.2 Fahrenheit).

Later that day we went to the organized beach, where you can find a lot of floating elderly people and tourists, plus some scandinavian folks that came because of their doctor's recommendation.

The whole area is pink, especially when sunset approaches, it's quite amazing. In the further Southern area of the strip you can find totally white rocks of salt pipping out of the water, the water are still kind of warm (I have to admit that it does force you to think of pee when you step in, the temperature is unusual for a body of water - but in any case, don't pee while in the water - it will burn). It would have been the most perfect place for some fashion shoot (still is) but stepping on those salt rocks is kind of painful and if you do get a scratch then it's going to burn.

Awesome, enjoy it before its gone as more water comes out as goes in..

True indeed, even a greater reason to take a hike down there!

Perfect ... I would like to be there now🏝

i should be here sometime

Those photos are so interesting and inviting. Great photography too. Visiting the Dead Sea is one on my bucket list. I hope someday I will tick it off and gain the memorable experiences like what you had. For now, I will just imagine myself visiting the Dead Sea through your post hehe. Have a good one! :)

Haha, well for now very well but you should really get there someday, just to feel the sensation of floating on the water:))

I know right! :) that's gonna be amazingly interesting I'm sure :)

Beautiful pics. This place would look awesome on Portra.

The photos look like out of this world! Beautiful! The colors and the way they change with the sun must be so inspiring :)
How does the ground feel on the feet? Must be a very unique experience to take a bath in this giant natural floating tank :)

Thank you very much:) Well actually I have to admit that the ground is not so magical, i mean the the context of the feeling you get on your feet. But it depends where you are at. All of the salt that is crystallizing around hard material makes it kind of sharp so you find yourself jumping around to the floating safety. But then again in the organized beach you have this orange sand that can't be natural to the place but this one is pretty comfi;))

Oh wow, it must be a very unique experince stepping into a sea which has a ground of sharp salt crystals! :)
But I can imagine it's not the nicest feeling for the feet :D
Orange sand at the organized beach sounds so stunning! Combined with the sky blue water it must be so unreal and beautiful to watch! :)
I need to visit this special place too one day! Looks so amazing! Your pictures made me definately want to travel there :)
Have a great Christams Party and a good time! :)

Great post, great photos :) following :)
