"Taking Back Sunday"
Autumn colors are finally starting to appear in the Midwest over the weekend!
A random red leaf here.

I was disappointed my son had turned 20-years-old and for the first time since he was born, we didn't get to celebrate his birthday together because of a two-day service project he was committed to do with his fraternity.
So at least one of us was glad his fraternity had another two-day service project over this past weekend. I finally got the opportunity to have him blow out candles, celebrate, and take his traditional birthday photo to add to my "mom" scrapbook! 📷
This was the tshirt the volunteers wore. (JDRF stands for Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund - Type 1 Diabetes) The fundraiser was a 5K Sponsored Walk that starting at 6:30am Saturday morning and the guys had to do the event setup the night before
My son isn't a huge fan of traditional birthday cakes. He prefers those flat round chocolate chip cookie cakes. Instead, I made him the homemade chocolate chip cookie brownies you see in my photos.
You make two bowls of batter, one with brownie mix that you spread on the bottom of the cake pan and the second one is for the chocolate chip cookie mix that you form into balls and place on top of the brownie mix.
Anyone else here like to eat the dough before it gets baked or lick the bowl? 🙋♀️🙋♂️

Happy Birthday to your son! Oh to be 20 again lol. Yeah love anything chocolate chip. I made a chocolate chip cookie the other day that filled a 9 inch skillet lol.
Holy wowsers!!! That is exactly the type of chocolate cookie cake my son likes! Guess I need a cast iron pan to make it properly. My daughter tried making one once on a regular pan. Epic fail! It burned on the edges and was raw in the center! Being twenty was okay, I think I'd prefer to be 25 again.

Always love when you drop by and thank you for the coffee. One never can have too much quality coffee! The chocolate chip brownies were a hit with my son and he took the rest back to share with his roommate.🍪 That SUBLIME poster was cool.
