The Red Sea, the beauty of nature and why are we destroying it?

in #photography8 years ago (edited)

As I said in my introductory post, I love the sea. So I want to share my experience with you from when I got to go scuba diving and snorkeling in the Red Sea. As you probably know Egypt is a beautiful country with a hell of a lot of History. But that is nothing compared to the beauty of what lays underneath it's waters.

I would also like to tell you that I am an amateur photographer, and once I dipped my head under the water I fell in love with what I could see, so I grabbed my GoPro and proceeded to take some pictures. It was like diving into a new world, I was surrounded by fish, all different types, sizes and colours, I could have spent an eternity just exploring the reef. Even the reef itself was a wonder to me, who knew something so beautiful, so colourful and so full of life lay just a couple of meters below the waters surface!

Needless to say I did somewhat spend a few too many hours underwater! It was just too beautiful and inviting, and just so interactive, there were little black fish that defended their little underwater home. You would put your finger near them and they would charge at you like little fishy "Torros".

But it also reminded me of how big the world is and just how small we are, the reef in reality only went out a few meters and after that was for me, just frightening. In front of you far out was just blue emptiness, so blue, that it makes you wonder what's lurking over that way, and then the reef just takes a sudden fall, so far down you can't see the bottom, it's just darkness. It just goes to show that near all that life and beauty, just a few meters away is a whole contrast, all you could see was vast emptiness and darkness. It made me see how small and insignificant we really are on this Earth. If you look around Humans are everywhere, you would think that would make us a strong species but in reality, we are nothing. Compared to the power, vastness and strength of nature we are only guests, over staying our welcome and nature will soon push us out, some say she already is! I don't understand why as a species we are so intent on destroying our planet for our own selfish desires, but for those who appreciate, take a look around you. Really look and see the beauty and appreciate the beautiful world we live in!

Hi! This post has a Flesch-Kincaid grade level of 9.4 and reading ease of 71%. This puts the writing level on par with Michael Crichton and Mitt Romney.

It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop.

What's one dream that you've tucked away, for the moment? How come?
