A glimpse of Nepal through a local eye!

in #photography7 years ago

Since I was a kid I was told Nepal is the most beautiful country in this world so did I believe . Born in the country of Mount Everest and Buddha was a pride but over the years as I grew up, my beliefs were sort of shaken because I thought the beaches and oceans and the tall skyscrapers were what was amazing. Nepal, being an underdeveloped and landlocked country had neither of those hence I always complained of the country for just having hills and mountains .After visiting plain lands of Nepal called Terai ,made me realize two things: 1) Nepal is not just about hills and mountains. 2) You miss hills and mountains once you don't get to see it! So I decided to travel Nepal and see its different aspects.IMG_20150906_153829.jpg

The Climb
Over the years I went on few treks and hikes and I knew what an idiot I was to complain these beauties. It was such overwhelming experience that I could never get enough of. The feel of climbing a hill and looking at how small everything looks from the top is surreal and the joy of seeing the breathtakingly beautiful snow covered mountain cannot be described in words.IMG_8146-01.jpeg
The well known John Muir's quote
Mountains are calling and I must go" is the exact emotion once you are on a climb. ()

The rural setting
In the present modern day life, we live in a chaos. The hustle and bustle of city and the everyday work makes us so busy, we forget to breathe so a little break is what life seeks. A few days without wifi and the city dust made me realize how life can be happy with small things. Today's children are born with ipads in their hand but there are places where children just have to walk miles for school and are far from videogames and technologies yet their playfulness and smile never disappeared.I became aware of the fact that not everyone is born with a silver spoon and life is not a fairytale so we have to be grateful for our lives because what we have might not be enough for us but it is a lot when we see it from a different eye. Travelling around and hearing life stories of the locals helps to discover so much about life and Nepal is all about the villages and stories.!

I was perplexed to see how everything worked in the rural areas. At times it was hard to believe places like those still existed and people had a life in there.!

Far far away from all the complexities of today's world, there is a life with genuine happiness with love and laughter.

Life is not what we imagine it to be. We all have our dreams and desires, some of us get it easily and some have to work very hard but no one ever said life is going to be fair !!

Natural Setting
With my travel experiences what I can definately say is that if you have desire to blend with the nature, Nepal is the choice. From himalayas to rainforests to waterfalls to meadows ,Nepal has it all.

Seeing the scenarios that I thought existed only calendars was very much overwhelming. The sound of water in midst of jungle with bird chirping is the best music I've ever heard in my life and when the cold water touches your skin , every inch of pain in your body disappears. It is magical .

We live in a tragically beautiful world. A little bit of wildness and little of wanderlust makes us luminous being that we are.

the cultural setting.
If you ever walk in Kathmandu, you will find a beautifully carved temple or a magnificent monastry in every other corner of the streets. The architecture ,customs and rituals is something you shouldnt miss. There are many palaces and old buildings bearing a great historical importance. Seeing such is always fascinating.

Nepal may not have the 4 lane black topped road, big buildings and other good infrastructures but travelling Nepal will never disappoint.
