Though actually, science is finding out plant life is more conscious than we thought! Trees send messages to each other and help sick members of their crew ('The hiden life of trees' by Peter Wohlleben) and in Sintra of all places I wouldn't be surprised if the trees were a little ahead in magic tricks...
