Timor-Leste

in #photography7 years ago

After catching up with my mate today and thinking about life in general I realised how much of an extraordinary life I've led. I've seen and done things most people only dream about.

So, rather than the regular crypto related posts I normally do, I thought I'd give you a little insight over the upcoming days on some of the things I've done and the places I've seen. Some of it I can't go into detail about due to the nature of the work but pictures can tell the story and you fill in the blanks.

In 2007 / 2008 I had a job which required national and overseas travel at short notice. In February 2008 my team and I were deployed to Timor-Leste for 6 weeks (we didn't know how long it would be for when we left - which made Mrs Kratos happy after being away for 11 weeks on a course just prior to this).

Here are a few of the many photos I took whilst I was over there.

The 'Jesus Statue' as it was affectionately known. I'm not sure if it was called that because it was a statue of Jesus or because you could often hear me and my team muttering 'oh Jesus' under our breaths on our morning run up the side of the mountain to get there.

This is about as artistic as I get!

The local children were always happy to see us - especially when we had balloons or lollies to hand out.

We must not have had any balloons or lollies this day. The kid at the back is particularly upset!

How cool would it be to have a pet monkey?!? My boys are going to be so jealous when I show them this photo.

When you're dead tired you'll sleep anywhere.
