A rare and beautiful cockroach.
Greetings friends of macro photography and macro photography. I bring here an experiment that aims to take the mere photo of the model (read insect, flower or object) to the limit and make a more artistic proposal, beyond the simple representation as a graphic image, something that would lead us to aesthetic enjoyment, to find a deeper connection.
The 5 selected close-ups
Photo N° 1
Recently, a cockroach, still in the larva phase, entered the house. When I saw it, its shape and colors caught my attention and I captured it for a while to do a photo shoot. |
Photo N° 2
I set up the studio, using a transparent plastic box on this occasion to prevent the cockroach from escaping. I worked with the cell phone camera in macro mode, getting physically as close as possible to the model. |
Photo N° 3
Although I took more formal photos, the shots I share here arose from the moment when, looking for a better frame, I found the windows and their colored glass as a background. In addition, the cockroach climbed up the wall of the transparent box, which gave the shots an almost dreamlike touch. |
Photo N° 4
The backgrounds created an almost fantasy-like contrast, which helped us perceive the cockroach in a different way, without repulsion and opening us up to contemplate it in its splendor, in the shapes of its shells, in the lines of colors that cross it and in the black frame given by its legs and antennae. |
Photo N° 5
I was really fascinated and inspired by the creativity in the shots. The subsequent editing was minimal, enlivening colors, creating greater saturation and cutting out the excess. |
