Taken in Narita, Japan.

This shot was taken at Narita Temple est. 940 on the outskirts of Tokyo. After entering the complex via the main gate, you then proceed up to an elevated internal gate that houses a giant vermillion lantern. On the far side of this is a stone bridge, which traverses an ornamental pond, that subsequently leads to steps ascending to this the courtyard of the Great Main Hall.

At the time of shooting the cloudbase was low, the glow seen here is from additional airport illumination located on the other side of the complex.

To get here from Tokyo, take the local Keisei line at either Ueno or Nippori stations. It costs about 1000 yen. After arriving at Narita station take the main entrance gate, walk out past the taxis and turn right and keep walking straight (McDonalds will be on your right side). Keep going and you will hit the main drag, which winds down to the temples (10 mins). This place also makes a great mini trip if you can get out of the airport for a few hours it is only one or two stops by train to Narita Station (10 mins onboard).

There is no closeable perimeter to the Narita temple complex so you can visit at any time day or night. The security guards who patrol will not ask you to leave.
